Limit Orders

Buy, sell, order, limit order, trade

Updated over a week ago

A limit order is only executed if the market price reaches or exceeds (sell) or falls below (buy) the price limit you have specified.

This type of order is suitable in situations where you want to buy or sell an asset only at a certain price or better. A limit order allows you to manage price risk more precisely than a market order.

Additional Note:

A limit order may not be executed if the market price does not reach your set price level during the order’s validity period.

In the Advanced view, you can define a validity period for your order, after which it will automatically expire if not executed. If no expiry is set, the order will remain active until it is either executed or cancelled manually.

Tip: If a market order does not go through – for example, due to high volatility or poor liquidity (common especially with smaller assets) – we recommend placing a limit order. This ensures that your trade will only be executed at the price you’ve chosen or better.
